Youth Ministry

"Youth ministry is the Church's mission of reaching into the daily lives of modern young people and showing them the presence of God."
Archbishop John R. Quinn, Vision of Youth Ministry

This statement and paper is the foundation of the Youth Ministry program for grades 7-12 at St. Thomas More; it is organized around eight ministry components: advocacy, cathechesis, community life, evangelization, justice & service, leadership development, pastoral care, prayer & service.

Grounded in the mission of Jesus and the Church, the goals of STM's youth Ministry are to empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus in our world today; to draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community; to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.

Your Ministry strives to be welcoming and accepting of youth wherever they're "at" in the world today.  Youth may pick and choose what they wish to get involved in based on their likes, needs, schedules, etc. Youth Ministry offers community-building social events and adds more challenging components as youth move into deeper relationships with each other and with God.

Among youth Ministry volunteer opportunities for parishioners who enjoy and care about out your, are as chaperones for trips/retreats and drop-in Nights or Youth group, small group leaders for retreats, and the Birthday ministry.
